David Tinker BSc MSc MIMechE FIAgrE CEng CEnv
Engineering R&D applied to agriculture.
At Silsoe I was involved in the Overseas Division, tractor and traction R&D
and finally abattoir engineering from 1978 until 2005
After SRI I continued for several years in abattoir engineering with the same collaborators (e.g. Bristol and Nottingham Universities, RVC, Campden BRI etc) but I also became the Secretary General of the European Society of Agricultural Engineers (2006-2018). From about 2010 I became much less involved in engineering related to meat hygiene and became much more involved in various aspects of precision agriculture including as a partner in a European Funded project and, although semi-retired, I still have a strong interest in this and engineering applied to agriculture around the world.
